Update on Flemington's Halloween Parade - It's on!

At Monday’s Council meeting (September 11, 2017), we learned that, after many years of sponsoring the annual Halloween parade, the local chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) would no longer be able to run the parade.

Rather than let this popular holiday tradition fade away, the Flemington-Raritan Parks and Recreation Commission and the Flemington Police Department quickly stepped in and decided to jointly sponsor the parade.  Therefore, the parade will be held as usual this year.

We wish to thank the new sponsors, and we also want to express our thanks to the VFW volunteers who, for many years, have made this parade a Flemington favorite.

This year's parade will take place on Halloween, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m. on Main Street, which will be closed between Mine and Capner streets. Judging will take place in front of the Police Department building.

Categories for judging this year are:
AGES: 0-3 years old; 4-6 years old; 7-9 years old; and 10-13 years old.
GROUPS: A group must have 3 or more people.

Prize Categories are: Funniest, scariest, and most original.

There will also be a Dog Costume Contest, sponsored and judged by Barkley's Gourmet Marketplace.
